The short answer
No. A trimmer cuts the hair at the surface of the skin and never touches the root, where growth is decided. So it can't make your facial hair grow back thicker, darker or faster.
A hair that grows naturally has a soft, tapered tip. When you trim it, the tip is cut straight across. That blunt end can feel a little stiff as it grows back, but the hair itself hasn't changed. As it grows out, it softens again.
Yes. Cleveland Clinic says shaving, or cutting hair in any way, won't make it grow back thicker or faster. That holds for your upper lip, chin, cheeks and brows too.
Trimmed hair shows again within a few days, because it is cut at the surface rather than pulled out. You'll usually want a touch-up every few days to a week, whenever you notice regrowth. It's quick, and it doesn't hurt.
Tip: trim on clean, dry skin in good light, and glide gently in small strokes. A trimmer with a built-in light shows the finest hairs, so you won't need to go over the same spot again.
