Do bikini trimmers leave stubble?

By VIFERA Team · · Updated

The short answer

A little. A trimmer cuts hair just above the skin, so it leaves very short stubble rather than a razor-close finish. For smoother skin, trim first, then shave.

Why does a trimmer stop short?

A trimmer doesn't scrape along the skin like a razor. That's why it's gentler on the bikini line, with fewer nicks and less irritation. Pubic hair is naturally coarse and curly, which makes it prone to ingrown hairs. Leaving it short, rather than cutting it below the skin, gives it less chance to curl back in.

How do I get a smoother finish?

Trim first, so the hair is short, then shave. The 2-in-1 Bikini Trimmer & Shaver does both: a trimming head for longer hair and a foil shaving head for a close finish.

  • Wet the skin and use a gentle shaving gel.
  • Shave in the direction of hair growth.
  • Go over each area as few times as possible.
  • Moisturise afterwards.

Tip: you don't need to go extra close every time. Leaving hair slightly short is gentler on your skin.
